Qatargas is participating in the Moushtarayat Conference and Exhibition, organised by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) during 8-10 March 2016 at Qatar National Convention Centre, in line with the company’s vision that encourages actively contributing to local business partnership.
Moushtarayat is the first-ever government procurement and contracting conference taking place in the State of Qatar with the objective of promoting the sustainable government procurement and help prepare small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to meet their goals.
Qatargas’ pavilion at the exhibition showcases the supply and procurement opportunities available with the company to local contractors and suppliers.
Being a socially responsible corporate citizen, Qatargas’ participation in and support for the Moushtarayat conference and exhibition stems its key strategic direction of actively contributing to social, community and local business partnerships. Qatargas’ procurement policy has already been laying emphasis on sourcing goods and services from the local market as far as possible with a special focus on local small and medium sized enterprises. Furthermore, Qatargas strongly encourages its contractors and suppliers to give preference to utilizing the services of local companies and using local materials during the execution of all Qatargas contracts. Through this strategic approach, Qatargas is fully aligned with and contributing remarkably to the economic development objectives as envisaged in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Over the past three years, Qatargas has been organising the Contractor Forum annually to support the local businesses in which hundreds of contractors and suppliers attend. The purpose of the event is to make them aware of upcoming projects and business opportunities in Qatargas, besides seeking their feedback on the Company’s procurement process and to have two-way communication. Local banks and Qatar Chamber of Commerce also participate in this event. Qatar Development Bank was a strategic partner in the third Contractor Forum, which was held in November 2015.
Qatargas’ participation in the Moushtarayat conference and exhibition is an example of its commitment to the local market and is aimed at encouraging the SMEs which in turn will promote sustainable economic growth in the State.
